Why Walton?
For those students with severe disabilities, Walton Special Center provides a special setting to meet unique needs. Walton's special features include trained personnel, a caring, safe environment, and a program tailored for each student.
At Walton, each student begins at his/her own level. Individualized and specific teaching enables the student to learn by taking small steps that, over time, enable him/her to learn and grow.
About Roger Walton
Roger M.V. Walton spent 28 of his 40 year career in education as a Stockton Unified School District administrator. His efforts convinced the Legislature to fund a community-based program for multihandicapped minors.
Walton Development Center, now called Walton Special Center was constructed in June 1970.
Today Walton Special Center provides special education services to students age 3 to 22 with severe disabilities who live within the Stockton Unified School District.
